This position will report directly to the Director of Underwriting, and will work cross-functionally with the sales, operations, and finance teams. This job will involve analyzing, assessing, and approving loan applications based on a number of criteria and factors. The Credit Loan Officer is responsible for evaluating and assessing loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk. This role requires a strong understanding of financial analysis, credit policies, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound judgments based on comprehensive data evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loan Application Review: Analyze loan applications, including credit reports, income documentation to assess risk and creditworthiness.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate the applicant’s financial history and current financial situation, including calculating payment-to-income (PTI) and loan-to-value (LTV) ratios.
  • Decision Making: Make informed recommendations for loan approval or denial based on company policies and guidelines. Document rationale for decisions clearly and comprehensively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all applications comply with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales teams and management to address any outstanding issues or additional information required for loan processing.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends and economic factors that may affect lending decisions and borrower capabilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:1-3 years of experience within a financial services organization, focused on credit and/or risk management. Auto Finance background is preferred.
  • Skills

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight environments.
  • Knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to develop business relationships with senior management and others throughout the organization
