Job Summary

As a Software Engineering Manager at Disney, you will lead a team of engineers to design, develop, and manage large-scale software services that support Disney's digital products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, technical program management, operations, and other engineering teams to drive project delivery and ensure technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of software engineers to design, develop, and manage large-scale software services that power Disney's digital products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, technical program management, operations, and other engineering teams to drive project delivery and ensure technical excellence.
  • Apply your expertise in database technologies to develop scalable and distributed services.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to ensure that all software uses Disney and industry best practices for data selection.
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps, architectures, and designs for large-scale software services.
  • Work with engineering and product leadership to establish priorities and guide direction for engineers and project managers.
  • Foster a culture of trust, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Provide guidance and direction to engineers and project managers through regular planning and daily stand-ups.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Strong programming skills in an object-oriented language, and a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.).
  • Experience with source control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and scaling.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team.
  • Knowledge of Disney's technology stack and architecture.
  • Experience working with remote global teams and an adaptable schedule to meet in various time zones.
