Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure a smooth transition
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Be available for assignments on a flexible schedule, including short-term and long-term placements

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related field
• Special Education or subject-specific certifications (e.g., Math, Science, ELA)
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with IEPs
