About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Commerce City, CO. As a SpEd Substitute Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs. You will be responsible for teaching lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, instructing based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, and monitoring and assessing student achievements and outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
• Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum
• Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes
• Exercise classroom and behavior management skills
• Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have an active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s). You must also have a Substitute Authorization (or be in the process of obtaining one if your license is expired). Additionally, you will need to provide three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor. A background check for Scoot Education and the Colorado Department of Education is also required.

Essential Qualifications

• Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
• Substitute Authorization (or in the process of obtaining one if license is expired)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special needs
• Knowledge of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
• Experience with behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports
• Excellent classroom management and behavior management skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff. You must also be able to adapt to new situations and be flexible in your approach. Additionally, you will need to have a strong understanding of special education principles and practices, as well as the ability to implement lesson plans and assess student progress.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits to our substitutes. You will be paid weekly, and you can earn up to $273 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. We also offer a $0 onboarding cost, which means that you will not have to pay for any expenses related to state background checks.
