About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Building Automation Specialist to play a key role in our service delivery team. As a Senior Building Automation Specialist, you'll be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex building automation systems, as well as providing technical support and guidance to junior technicians. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex building automation system field cabinets and periphery devices, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to department standards, and assist junior technicians in maintaining these standards.
  • Diagnose and repair end devices, configure modules, and troubleshoot network-related issues, leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings, providing valuable insights and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide labor requirements, costs, and overall performance data to evaluate service contracts and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain positive relationships with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring excellent customer service and support.
  • Make complex program and graphic changes to meet specification, sequence, and customer requests, demonstrating your technical proficiency and attention to detail.
  • Communicate technical issues to management and project managers, providing clear and concise updates and recommendations.
  • Document database changes, making information available to all employees for future use and pricing.
  • Perform necessary database tasks, such as backups, clippings, troubleshooting, and exporting files, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
  • Create thorough daily service reports, submitting them to the Service Manager weekly, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Set a good example for junior technicians, providing training and repair support when needed, and promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Participate in solutions-based discussions with owners and project stakeholders, both inside and outside the company, to drive business growth and innovation.
  • Work with Service Contract customers to provide advanced DDC solutions, energy savings recommendations, and building controls expansion, driving future projects and revenue growth.
  • Support a performance-based culture, driving continuous improvement and alignment with enterprise vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Ensure that all quality and safety standards, specifications, and policies are met, driving continuous improvements and collaborating with the team to drive efficiencies.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 8 years of closely related industry experience, with a strong background in building automation, HVAC, and controls.
  • A journeyman level certification in one or more of the building trades, supplemented by vocational/technical training in general construction, plumbing, wiring, HVAC, etc.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the field or related area, providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job.
  • Familiarity with Automated Logic hardware product line and network architecture, or similar building automation systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and high-quality document and report preparation.
  • A self-starter attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow, and a strong commitment to delivering results.
  • High ethical standards, strong values, integrity, and a drive to deliver results, with a focus on building effective teams and action orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment, with strong multi-tasking abilities and a flexible mindset.
  • A strong understanding of various protocols that may be integrated into building automation systems, such as BACnet, Modbus, etc.
  • Experience with building automation software suites, add-ons, and offerings, such as Automated Logic's WebCTRL.
