Unlock Your Career Potential as a Merchandise Planner at Target

Join the ranks of one of America's most beloved retailers and take on a challenging yet rewarding role as a Merchandise Planner in the Produce category. At Target, we're not just about selling products - we're about creating an exceptional shopping experience that delights our guests and sets us apart in a competitive global marketplace.

About Us: Target - A Leader in Retail Innovation

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company, and a pioneer in retail innovation. Our Merchandising team is constantly evolving to stay ahead of the curve, and we're looking for talented individuals like you to help drive our success. As a Merchandise Planner in Produce, you'll play a critical role in shaping some of our fastest-growing categories and contributing to the company's $100 billion retail business.

Key Responsibilities: Driving Business Results through Data-Driven Insights

  • Conduct comparative analysis of holiday and seasonal performance reports to inform inventory decisions and ensure product supports projected sales.
  • Act as a financial link between Merchandising and Supply Chain, providing insights that drive business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain category expertise, partnering with cross-functional teams and vendors to drive business growth.
  • Lead demand forecasting, assortment planning, and open-to-buy processes to optimize assortments and drive sales.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for variation between supply and demand forecasts, supporting "chase-cancel" decisions and communicating implications to vendors.
  • Interpret forecast results, conduct "what if?" analysis, and guide go-forward recommendations to drive business outcomes.
  • Validate unit promo planning forecast, drive maintenance, risk analysis, and decision-making by the Pricing & Promotion Center of Excellence.
  • Run event forecast creation and flow, analyzing item lifecycles and driving recommendations on end-of-season management.

Essential Qualifications: The Skills and Experience We Need

To succeed as a Merchandise Planner at Target, you'll need:

  • A four-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-6 years of relevant experience, with 1+ years of Merchandising experience.
  • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and comfort working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing.

While experience in the produce/food industry is a benefit, it's not required. We're looking for talented individuals with a passion for data-driven decision-making and a drive to succeed in a fast-paced retail environment.

Preferred Qualifications: The Skills that Set You Apart

If you have experience in:

  • Retail merchandising or planning.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Category management.
  • Supply chain management.

You'll be a competitive candidate for this role. Additionally, proficiency in tools like Excel, SQL, and data visualization software is a plus.

  • Comprehensive training programs to develop your skills and expertise.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional growth.
  • A collaborative and dynamic work environment that encourages innovation and creativity.
  • A competitive salary ($69,000 - $124,200) and benefits package, including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) matching, employee discount, and paid time off.

Our company culture is built on a foundation of inclusivity, diversity, and respect. We value our team members and strive to create a work environment that's supportive, engaging, and fun.

Work Arrangement: Remote or Hybrid

This role may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement, based on Target's needs. As a Remote team member, you'll work full-time from home or an alternate location, with the flexibility to travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. As a Hybrid team member, you'll have the flexibility to work either remotely or onsite at a Target location, depending on the needs of your role and team.

Compensation and Benefits: We're Committed to Your Success

At Target, we believe in rewarding our team members for their hard work and dedication. In addition to a competitive salary, you'll have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance.
  • Life insurance and disability coverage.
  • 401(k) matching and employee discount.
