Network Reliability Engineer (L5) Live Broadcast

Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. We have been changing how people watch shows and movies, enabling seamless on-demand access across a wide variety of streaming devices, from set-top-boxes to mobile devices to TVs . Recently, we have expanded our entertainment offering with Live programming, like the NFL Christmas Day Games, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Fight, and weekly WWE series recently launched in January of 2025 and much more coming. We're seeking experienced Network Reliability Engineers to help scale and operate the infrastructure that powers these live shows.

  • *The Opportunity**

This is an exciting opportunity to build something that sits at the intersection of IP networks, emerging IP broadcast technologies, scale and software managed infrastructure. You will work with internal engineering teams and external vendors around the world to deliver and operate an infrastructure that will power Netflix Live Acquisition and more. Your strong reliability engineering and operational background, combined with a broad set of technical skills and a software/automation-focused mindset, will be crucial in solving complex distributed systems problems.

  • *As a member of the team you will**

- Innovate, design, implement, and operate the infrastructure that supports Live, more particularly live signal acquisition, inspection, validation, and distribution - Drive continual improvement in monitoring, configuration management, instrumentation, and automation with the primary goal of maintaining highly scalable and reliable live ingest infrastructure - Utilize infrastructure as code to operate and scale the environment - Leverage distributed analytic processing technologies to provide service insights - Partner with other support teams to continuously improve the Netflix experience - Support Live events and their operations teams as the technical expert at first and as part of your on-call rotation subsequently (travel and weekend work might be needed)

  • *About you**

- Preferred - BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent professional experience) - Expert-level knowledge of most networking technologies - Strong Service Reliability/Operational experience running large-scale infrastructure - Ability to code and understand basic software engineering principles - Preferably have expertise in IP based Broadcast technologies and protocols (SMPTE, SCTE, NMOS PTP…) - Experience in cloud/hybrid based technologies - Engineering, data-driven mindset, and being comfortable with coding - Passionate be learning new things, working in new spaces, and sharing this enthusiasm with those around you - Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment - Communicate effectively with internal and external partners and deal with ambiguity - Flexible and adaptable to our ever-evolving ecosystem - Curious and courageous Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range.
