Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Group Fitness Instructor to join our team of passionate fitness professionals. As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading high-energy and engaging group exercise classes that promote physical activity, social connection, and overall well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality group fitness classes, as directed by the Program Manager, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  • Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes that cater to diverse fitness levels and abilities.
  • Maintain working knowledge of fitness industry trends and YMCA programs to provide effective information and training to members.
  • Keep accurate class attendance records and respond to YMCA policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Work closely with other PT instructors, supervisors, member services, and building/maintenance staff to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for members.

Requirements and Opportunities

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Group Fitness Instructor who possesses the following qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

  • Required Certifications: CPR, AED, National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification.
  • Certification in areas of expertise (Cardio, Strength, Yoga, Cycle, Mat Pilates, Dance, ForeverWell, Silver Sneakers, etc.).
  • Attend and successfully complete within 90 days of hire: YMCA Healthy Lifestyles.
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience teaching group fitness classes.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with members and colleagues.
  • Ability to create and lead high-energy and engaging group exercise classes that cater to diverse fitness levels and abilities.
  • Working knowledge of fitness industry trends and YMCA programs to provide effective information and training to members.
  • Ability to maintain accurate class attendance records and respond to YMCA policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to ensure a seamless and supportive experience for members.
