Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Teacher Assistant to work in a dynamic learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with students of all ages and abilities. As a Teacher Assistant, you will work closely with our teachers to provide academic support, reinforce learning concepts, and promote student engagement and motivation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with all staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Model good reading, writing, and speaking skills for students and reinforce these skills through various activities and exercises
  • Work directly with students to reinforce basic language, reading, mathematics, and social skills, and provide individualized support as needed
  • Monitor written assignments and provide immediate re-teaching or reinforcing when necessary
  • Assist the classroom teacher on the playground in teaching and coaching physical activities that strengthen large motor skills
  • Follow daily schedules and instructions from the lead teacher, assistant principal, or principal
  • Assist in preparing materials, displaying student work, and distributing and collecting paper
  • Supervise independent student study and attend professional development activities
  • Follow directions from the principal, assistant principal, and classroom teacher, and perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist the lead teacher in the instructional planning process and serve as a proctor among students at any time

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Completed at least two years, or 48 credit semester hours, at an institution of higher education; or
  • An Associate's Degree or higher; or
  • Demonstrate through a state or local academic assessment (ACT Work Keys) knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and math

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:

  • Experience working with students of all ages and abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced learning environment
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software
