Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced software engineering manager to lead our Substance Experience Conveyance group, responsible for building scalable frameworks that deliver information at scale to groups across Disney Streaming. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building and leading a diverse software engineering team, driving a culture of ownership and excellence, and overseeing the development of critical services and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Full Stack Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Building and leading a diverse software engineering team, including training, career development, mentoring, and process improvement
• Developing and driving a technical vision for applications and tools, aligning with business objectives and client needs
• Collaborating with product managers and other stakeholders to prioritize work and set goals for the team
• Refining software engineering practices and maintaining functional excellence
• Demonstrating exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Adapting quickly to meet changing business needs and priorities
• Fostering a culture of innovation and growth, with a focus on new technologies and emerging trends
• Overseeing the development of critical services and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• 3+ years of software engineering management experience, with a strong track record of building and leading high-performing teams
• 3+ years of software development experience, with a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.)
• Experience working with event-driven frameworks models (reactive design)
• Practical knowledge of cloud computing platforms, with experience deploying web services in cloud environments
• Experience with unit testing and test-driven development processes
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:

• Deep experience with reactive programming on JVM languages, preferably Java
• Hands-on experience as a support engineer, with experience designing and implementing transparency frameworks
• Hands-on experience managing AWS services, with expertise in using Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools
• Hands-on experience working with distributed NoSQL data stores, such as DynamoDB, Cassandra, Scylla, and Couchbase
• Experience working with global teams and adapting to different time zones and work schedules
