About the Role
As a Full Stack Cloud Data Engineer at General Motors, you will play a critical role in the development of our vehicle data solutions. You will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying scalable and secure cloud-based data systems that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders. Your expertise will be essential in driving innovation and improving the efficiency of our data operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning and development of migrating GM's on-prem vehicle data systems to cloud environments
- Design data architectures that meet current and future data security and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to develop and implement MLOps frameworks that enable continuous deployment, scaling, maintenance, and monitoring of machine learning models
- Train and mentor staff engineers in cloud development standards and emerging data engineering technologies
- Focus on continuous improvement of GM's data environments and lead prioritization of technical initiatives
- Influence leaders, both technical and executive, on innovation strategy and adoption
Additional Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure cloud-based data systems
- Design and implement data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technical initiatives
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and maintainability
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Proficiency in programming languages, including Java, Python, and C++
- Experience in designing, building, and deploying cloud-based data systems on platforms such as Microsoft Azure
- Strong understanding of cloud security, scalability, and performance
- Experience with Linux, containerization, and Kubernetes
- Excellent understanding of data storage and serving large volumes of data through APIs and other data delivery strategies
- Experience with data security and compliance practices in multi-cloud environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Experience with data engineering tools and technologies, such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, and Apache Flink
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with data security and compliance frameworks, such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS
