Key Responsibilities

As a Virtual Monitoring Technician, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining visual observation at all times, monitoring patient behaviors and movements, and recognizing behaviors that could result in potential harm to patients.
  • Supporting the plan of care for patients requiring virtual monitoring, verbally redirecting patients as needed, and immediately summoning nursing staff if patients require assistance.
  • Documenting patient information accurately and in a timely manner, providing nursing staff with information in a timely fashion when patients appear to pose a threat to themselves or others.
  • Participating in collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues, assuring patient environment safety, and seeking assistance from nursing staff with removal of any potential safety hazards.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers, colleagues, and patients in a courteous, positive, empathic, and professional manner.
  • Providing shift-to-shift hand off to virtual monitoring attendants and nursing staff of pertinent information and behaviors.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a patient monitoring or nursing role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain visual observation at all times, recognizing behaviors that could result in potential harm to patients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills, with the ability to navigate electronic medical records and other healthcare software.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • A degree in a healthcare-related field, such as nursing or healthcare administration.
  • Experience working in a remote patient monitoring setting or with similar technologies.
  • Certification in a healthcare-related field, such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
