As a Software Engineering Manager, you'll lead an Agile team at our development center in Boston, MA, launching and growing new initiatives for Wayfair's global websites.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of 5-9 engineers focused on building services that support the Wayfair sponsored program and its integration with Storefront and Recommendation systems within Wayfair. Own the output of the team, both from a technical and performance perspective. Mentor engineers in the team through training, coaching, code reviews, and 1:1 mentorship, providing career and professional development for your staff. Be accountable for the systems built by your team, including technical design, development, test, monitoring, and deployment. Engage your team to construct the technical roadmap and lead planning, delivery, and continuous improvement. Partner with product on defining roadmaps and ensure the team has a compelling mission with well-defined KPIs to measure progress and success. Raising the bar from both a technical and process perspective.

Essential Qualifications

Experience working directly within engineering teams. Experience partnering with product or program management teams. Experience managing a team of high-caliber Software Engineers developing complex, world-class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations. Experience in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services. Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer Science degree or postgraduate study. In lieu of a degree, relevant skills and equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy. Experience in the digital advertising or marketing space. Familiarity with the technical aspects of digital/display advertising. Familiarity with high-speed, ML-heavy systems.
