Job Overview We are seeking a qualified Transcriptionist/Translator to work onsite in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and remotely, contingent upon contract award. As a Transcriptionist/Translator, you will play a vital role in our team, responsible for transcribing audio material and translating written material from the target language to (and from) English. Your linguistic expertise will be essential in helping us deliver high-quality services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Transcribe audio material with high accuracy and attention to detail Translate written material from the target language to (and from) English, ensuring cultural and linguistic nuances are preserved Complete a short assessment as part of the vetting process after the necessary clearance is granted Collaborate with our team to deliver exceptional language services to our clients Utilize basic technical knowledge to perform tasks efficiently and effectively Requirements To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you should meet the following requirements: At least 1 year of experience in translating, transcribing, or interpreting from the requested language into English Basic technical knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust background determination Clearance requires a background check, drug test, and credit check Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: Advanced degree in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field Experience working with language services, including translation, interpretation, and transcription Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools, such as translation memory and terminology management systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and competencies: Exceptional language skills, including fluency in the target language and English Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment Basic technical knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment Cultural sensitivity and awareness, with the ability to understand and appreciate linguistic and cultural nuances Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Piedmont Global Language Solutions, we are committed to the growth and development of our team members.
