Entry-Level Civil/Roadway Engineer
AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm delivering projects that create a positive impact. They are seeking an Entry-Level Civil/Roadway Engineer to support roadway and transportation design efforts for high-profile projects, while providing training and guidance to develop skills necessary for acquiring a Professional Engineering license.
Responsibilities
- Perform entry-level professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks through effective mentorship
- Work within the Highway group on the design of civil engineering projects, including local roadways, rural and urban highways, and freeways
- Collaborate with design teams consisting of multidisciplinary design engineers and technicians
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member and assist with tasks , including preparing engineering-related calculations, drawings, and visual aids
- Assist Project Team by providing engineering design support (engineering reports, design calculations, quantity and cost estimates) for roadway, hydraulics, and civil engineering design projects
- Builds analytic and design skills
- Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
- Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision
Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
- AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, GeoPak, InRoads, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS experience
- Experience designing highway/roadway and storm drainage systems preferred
- Experience in designing traffic signal installations
