Student Financial Services Counselor
Hofstra University is nationally ranked and recognized as Long Island’s largest private university. The Student Financial Services Counselor provides personalized financial services assistance to Hofstra students and families, organizing and handling all aspects of administration while adhering to university regulations.
Responsibilities
- Counsels students and parents concerning financial aid, bills, and payment
- Evaluates applications including performing needs analysis and determining eligibility for federal, state, and University awards
- Processes student account information and assists with outreach efforts both on campus and in the community, including high school night presentations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 1 to 2 years relevant experience
- Valid driver's license
- Strong interpersonal, administrative, oral, and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of PC based word processing and spreadsheets
- Strong customer service skills
- Familiarity with computerized financial aid systems, especially Ellucian Banner preferred
- Knowledge of college financial aid and/or college student account processes
