React Native Developer for Mobile App UI/UX Enhancements and Bug Fixes (iOS & Android)

We are a startup building a community-based mobile app that enables users to create and join local communities, manage households, connect with service providers, handle notifications, invitations, chats, and related workflows. The app is live on both iOS and Android, with an admin console. We're seeking an experienced React Native developer to implement a series of UI/UX improvements, bug fixes, and feature enhancements based on detailed testing observations from our internal team. This is a high-priority project to refine the user experience before wider release. The app uses real-time features (e.g., notifications, live status), community management, and service provider integrations. You must be comfortable working with our existing codebase and ensuring cross-platform compatibility. Tech Stack •Frontend: React Native (for iOS and Android apps)

• Backend: AWS (hosting, storage, etc.), PostgreSQL (database)
• Real-time/Integrations: GetStream.io (chat/streaming), Ably (real-time pub/sub), MSG91 (SMS/OTP), Firebase (push notifications, auth)
• Admin Console: Next.js with Shadcn UI
• Platforms: Fully functional on both Android and iOS

Scope of Work

• Review and implement changes from three detailed testing documents (provided upon hiring, including text observations and referenced images/screenshots).
• Focus areas include: UI refinements (e.g., font sizes, colours, layouts), workflow optimizations (e.g., sign-up flows, invitations, notifications), bug fixes (e.g., app hangs, redirects), and minor feature additions (e.g., optional fields, defaults).
• Ensure all changes are tested on both iOS and Android devices/emulators.
• Update the admin console (Next.js/Shadcn) if any backend-related UI changes are needed (minimal expected).
• Maintain stealth mode: No public sharing of code or details; all work via secure channels.
• Potential for ongoing work if the project goes well.

A compiled task list from the documents is attached (or will be shared). It includes ~100 specific items grouped by category (e.g., Sign-Up Flows, UI Fixes, Notifications). Expect to handle:

• UI adjustments (e.g., padding, colours, font sizes).
• Workflow changes (e.g., pop-ups, redirects, defaults).
• Bug fixes (e.g., hangs, duplicate entries, visibility issues).
• Enhancements (e.g., auto-OTP, optional fields, help pop-ups).

Requirements

• 5+ years of React Native experience, with proven iOS/Android apps in production.
• Hands-on experience with the listed tech stack (especially real-time tools like GetStream.io and Ably).
• Strong UI/UX skills; ability to implement pixel-perfect changes from screenshots.
• Experience with state management, API integrations, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with app store guidelines for iOS/Android updates.
• Excellent communication; provide daily/weekly updates via Upwork.
• Available for TBD time zone overlap (e.g., IST or UTC).
• Must sign an NDA upon hiring.

Deliverables

• Updated codebase with all implemented changes (via Git or shared repo).
• Test reports confirming fixes on iOS/Android.
• Deployed updates to staging environment (AWS).
• Documentation of changes made.
