Description Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, is primarily responsible for analysis and implementation of asset allocation policies, investment strategy, and management of the investment portfolios within the Emory Endowment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops due diligence guidelines and investment criteria for recommendations of new investment managers.
  • Develops and maintains a list of prospective investment managers for each strategy or concept which appear to hold promise for enhancing returns, either now or in the future.
  • Performs due diligence and analysis for selection of investment firms through on-site visits, discussions with other institutional investors, and analysis of information provided by consultants.
  • Develops due diligence documentation that includes information on the firms' organization structure, people, investment process, deal terms, past record, references, succession planning, alignment of interest, etc.
  • Conducts ongoing due diligence of current portfolio, including meetings with managers to discuss portfolio returns and strategies, and quantitative analysis of portfolio returns and underlying holdings.
  • Monitors and insures overall portfolio's risk and underlying exposures are consistent with policy and recommends necessary changes, if warranted.
  • Negotiates investment manager contracts, reviews all partnership agreements, and works with legal department to determine acceptability of contracts.
  • Participates in operational risk audits of investment managers.
  • Manages and oversees all internal trading functions, which includes internal REIT portfolio, manager transitions and futures overlay program.
  • Provides managerial oversight for managers and analyst(s) performing investment analysis.
  • Conducts asset allocation modeling, as appropriate.
  • Implements portfolio rebalancing.
  • Researches new investment concepts, methods, and strategies for possible application by Emory.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine appropriate use of new investment vehicles within Emory's portfolio.
  • Develops recommendations for new investment programs to be presented to the Chief Investment Officer and Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or a related field and ten years of capital market or investment management experience.
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred.
  • Significant travel required.
