The Property General Claims Adjuster reports to the Property Claims Supervisor and the primary function of the role is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex, high-severity property insurance claims. Location: The successful candidate will work remotely but must be located in one of the following states: WA, OR, ID, or UT; must be able to work during our core Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours, and must have high-speed internet (internet speed test required). Preference will be given to candidates in the following metro areas close to a major airport: Seattle, Spokane, Boise, Portland, and Salt Lake City. Hiring Range: $104,910 - $114,477* Salary Range: $104,910 - $130,111

Responsibilities

  • Provide Ethical, Responsive, Personal, and Efficient claim service.
  • Apply a strategic approach to adjusting highly complex personal, farm, and commercial lines property claims within the states Mutual of Enumclaw conducts business.
  • Manage or assist in the defense of claims litigation and ensure accurate expense outcomes while maintaining strong relationships with defense counsel, internal partners, and service providers in developing strategy and working toward appropriate litigation outcomes.
  • Interact with policyholders, agents, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, contractors, independent adjusters, and other vendors/partners to facilitate accurate, prompt claims resolution.
  • Effectively manage workload while maintaining focus on claims quality and timely customer service.
  • Recognize and refer claims for subrogation and fraud potential.
  • Conduct field investigations and inspections of damaged property, and direct service providers in such activity.
  • Serve as a claims technical expert resource and mentor to others.
  • May require after-hours duty/availability and overnight travel.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of insurance policies and regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated history of highly inquisitive claims investigations.
  • Personal and commercial lines experience is required. Farmowner's experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and claims-related software programs, including Xactimate and Xactanalysis.
  • Ability to individually create accurate reconstruction and rebuilding estimates and obtain agreement on repair costs and timeline from appropriate stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a demanding and changing environment.
  • Adaptable to new technology and processes while maintaining a high level of service.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent business/industry experience.
  • Advanced familiarity with structural construction/building practices and principles.
  • Insurance industry designation(s)/certification(s) preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of insurance property field claims adjusting and litigation experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including video conferencing.
  • Must be able to climb ladders to perform inspections of damaged structures.
  • Must be able to negotiate steep stairs and roofs.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
