Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate, you'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering Exceptional Customer Service: Engage with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Pharmacy Operations: Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Cash Handling and Sales: Register sales on assigned cash register, provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service. Recommend items for sale to customers and suggest trade-up and/or companion items.
  • Inventory Management: Keep counters and shelves clean and well-merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records. Check in and price merchandise as required or as directed by store manager or communicated by the shift leader.
  • Pharmacy Systems and Equipment: Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Quality Improvement: Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Customer Service and Support: Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians. Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Inventory Management and Asset Protection: Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Store Maintenance and Appearance: Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products). Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise. Complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Customer Service in the Photo Area: Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print, and creative machine, suggestive sell of promotional photo products.
  • Web Pick-up Responsibilities: Assume web pick-up responsibilities, including monitoring orders in Picture Care Plus, filling orders (pick items), and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store.
  • Exterior and Interior Maintenance: Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Special Assignments and Training: Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned, while maintaining PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) or state required certification/registration preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience in a pharmacy or retail environment, with a focus on customer service and cash handling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, patients, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in a pharmacy or retail environment, with a focus on customer service and cash handling.

  • PTCB certification or state required certification/registration.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
