Assistant Project Manager/Estimator Intern

About the position Interested in kickstarting your career in Project Management & Estimating in the Electrical Industry? Join Egan's Electrical Construction team this summer as an Assistant Project Manager/Estimator Intern and gain hands-on experience working with a wide array of Electrical Projects. In our summer internship program, youll work alongside professionals in the industry while also engaging in events just for interns, including a jobsite ride along, Insights Discovery Workshop, mentorship opportunities, and more! Our internship program lasts 12-weeks, with flexible start and end dates to meet the needs of your school and extracurricular schedule. Responsibilities

  • Assist senior staff by observing, learning, and doing the following:
  • Manage projects from start to finish
  • Set up projects to meet or exceed budgetary and timing goals.
  • Order equipment and materials.
  • Attend job site meetings.
  • Manage people in various trades on the job sites.
  • Prepare billings in Great Plains.
  • Estimate jobs.
  • Close out job with maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and foster long-term relationships with customers through quality performance of work.
  • Collaborate with the project team to plan, set up, and manage construction projects.
  • Navigate and use Egans project management systems and processes, including Milestone Based Delivery (MBD).
  • Promote a positive safety culture by following Egans safety policies.
  • Participate in construction document analysis to develop clear and consistent interpretations.
  • Compose and edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures; assist with change orders, project billings, and change request pricing.
  • Process day-to-day administrative items (i.e. supply requisitions, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, procurement, take-offs, etc.) as directed.
  • Build strong internal partnerships; work collaboratively with other Egan groups to support Egans Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Use basic understanding of financials and reporting to support a PM in related responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in Egans Summer Internship Program and activities.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as requested/needed.
  • Visit jobsites and customer sites regularly.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a two or four year degree in Construction Management, Electrical Construction, Electrical Design or related field.
  • 0-2 years of construction and/or general business experience.
  • Travel to jobsites and client sites may be required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Courteous, professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated.
  • Anticipates and adjusts to changing priorities and methods.
  • Willingness to learn new ideas and concepts; takes on new tasks and challenges.
  • Excellent MS Office and Google Suite skills and ability/desire to learn new software systems.
  • Performance of duties will be in the office, at customer sites, and job sites as needed.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
