Job Overview If you’re a mid-career cost accountant and ready for real ownership, real visibility, and the opportunity to influence how a manufacturing business thinks about cost, this is the role where it happens. The Flexan group, part of Ingersoll Rand, is seeking a Cost Accountant with manufacturing experience who brings strong analytical capability and sound accounting fundamentals—someone who can move seamlessly between the discipline of accounting and the deeper analysis that drives smarter operational decisions. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting manufacturing operations through cost and variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead), inventory and asset accounting, and month-end close activities. Beyond execution, the role plays a key part in strengthening costing processes, improving data integrity, and enhancing reporting and internal controls that help move the organization forward. The successful candidate is both a doer and a thinker—comfortable in a plant-based environment, energized by change, and motivated by translating complex manufacturing data into clear, actionable insight. Sitting at the intersection of cost accounting and financial analysis, this role supports budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting tied directly to production performance. It’s an excellent opportunity for a strong accounting professional seeking increased ownership, visibility, and impact beyond routine accounting work. If you thrive in manufacturing environments, enjoy ERP-driven systems, and want to expand your impact, this role offers a compelling blend of responsibility, learning, and influence. Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis: Conduct analysis on product costs, manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, hours), inventory valuation, capital spending, and fixed asset management
  • Reporting: Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly financial KPIs to aid in decision making
  • Month End Close and Accounting: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with company policy and procedures
  • Standard Cost Management: Review, update, and maintain standard costs and assist senior management in maintaining a robust business costing system
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the development of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly outlooks, focused on cost optimization and profitability improvements
  • System and Process Improvements: Support improvements to ERP configurations and drive efforts to streamline processes, standardize reporting, and implement dashboards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor 's degree
  • 5+ years of direct cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience performing product cost analysis and manufacturing variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, and hours).
  • 5+ years of ERP accounting module experience, such as JDE, Oracle, SAP

Core Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data and derive actionable insights.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies issues and implements effective solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to support cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Manufacturing: Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing operations concepts/reporting

Preferences:

  • Degree concentration: Accounting or Finance
  • Professional certification in accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA)
  • Experience in inventory valuation, capital spending, and fixed asset management.
  • IQMS software experience
