Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Analyst / BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable reporting and data solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Power BI, SQL, and ETL processes, with experience in automating workflows and optimizing data models for performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business-owned Excel reports into scalable Power BI dashboards, preserving logic while improving usability and performance
  • Analyze and understand existing reporting logic, calculations, and data structures within Excel files and replicate them using DAX and data models
  • Work closely with stakeholders to clarify metrics, definitions, and reporting expectations before implementation
  • Develop and maintain Power BI datasets and reports that integrate data from multiple sources (SQL Server, Excel, etc.)
  • Design efficient data models with proper relationships, measures, and performance optimization techniques
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, validation, and troubleshooting across data warehouse tables
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of data warehouse structures (fact/dimension tables) to ensure accurate reporting
  • Build, modify, and maintain SSIS packages for ETL processes, including data cleansing, transformation, and loading
  • Handle production support tasks such as debugging ETL failures, fixing data issues, and ensuring data consistency
  • Configure and manage SQL Server Agent jobs for scheduling ETL pipelines and monitoring job execution
  • Proactively identify and resolve failures or delays in scheduled jobs
  • Set up and manage Power BI Service components, including:
    • Scheduled refresh configurations
    • On-premises data gateways setup and troubleshooting
    • Managing data source connections and credentials
    • Workspace and dataset administration
  • Ensure reports and datasets refresh reliably by diagnosing and resolving gateway, credential, and connectivity issues
  • Automate recurring data processing tasks (e.g., Excel data cleaning and consolidation using Python or other tools)
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation between source systems, ETL outputs, and final reports
  • Continuously optimize report performance, refresh times, and data pipeline efficiency

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong experience in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, report development)
  • Advanced SQL skills (joins, CTEs, window functions, performance tuning)
  • Hands-on experience with SSIS for ETL development
  • Experience with SQL Server Agent for job scheduling and monitoring
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (fact/dimension models)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize existing reports and ETL processes

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Lakehouse, or Power BI integration)
  • Experience with Python for data automation or preprocessing
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred)
  • Understanding of version control (Git) and deployment strategies
  • Experience with reporting tools like Tableau (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques in BI tools
