Director - MHPI Operations

Remote · USA Full-time New today

Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE:AMRC) is a leading energy solutions provider dedicated to helping customers reduce costs, enhance resilience, and decarbonize to net zero in the global energy transition. We are a trusted, full-service partner to public sector and government entities, K-12 schools, higher education, utilities, and healthcare customers across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe.

At Ameresco, we show the way by developing, constructing and operating tailored smart energy efficiency solutions, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure upgrades that drive cost savings, resilience, decarbonization, and innovation. Our comprehensive portfolio is built to address the challenges of today and adapt the future, ensuring long-term sustainability and success for our customers.

The Director of MHPI Operations is responsible for portfolio-level customer relationship management and operational integration across Ameresco’s Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) programs. This role serves as the primary interface between Ameresco and MHPI ownership and operating partners, ensuring alignment between customer expectations and Ameresco’s development, construction, and O&M execution. This is a senior operational leadership role focused on governance, coordination, issue resolution, and long-term partnership health across multiple installations. It is not a construction manager, project manager, or sales role.

Responsibilities:

MHPI Customer Interface & Relationship Management

  • Serve as Ameresco’s primary point of contact for MHPI partners at the Director and Regional leadership level.

  • Maintain executive-level engagement with MHPI ownership and operating partners.

  • Own customer relationship health and serve as the escalation point for cross-functional issues.

Portfolio Operations Integration

  • Coordinate with Ameresco Development, Engineering, Construction, and O&M teams.

  • Translate MHPI operational realities into actionable delivery guidance.

  • Support transitions from development and construction into steady-state operations.

Issue Management & Governance

  • Identify and resolve early indicators of operational friction.

  • Lead structured issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Establish and manage operating cadence, issue logs, and escalation protocols.

Program Consistency & Best Practices

  • Drive consistency across Ameresco’s MHPI engagements.

  • Develop repeatable operating playbooks and lessons learned.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Internal Leadership & Influence

  • Operate effectively in a matrixed environment without direct line authority.

  • Provide leadership through influence and executive credibility.

  • Advise senior leadership on MHPI portfolio strategy and risk.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in military housing, privatized housing, or large-scale residential operations.

  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with regional or portfolio-level MHPI leadership.

  • Strong understanding of development, construction, and operations integration.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Prior experience within MHPI organizations.

  • Experience transitioning projects into long-term operations.

  • Familiarity with utility infrastructure or energy programs.

Travel & Location:

  • This role is remote with moderate to heavy travel (approximately 25–40%) to MHPI installations and partner offices as required.

Ameresco challenges the brightest, most talented, and creative individuals in the industry by providing an environment that fosters initiative and achievement. We are proud of our comprehensive and competitive employee benefits, including people-oriented insurance, investment, and incentive plans.
