Remote · USA Full-time New today

About the position We’re building a world of health around every individual — shaping a more connected, convenient and compassionate health experience. At CVS Health®, you’ll be surrounded by passionate colleagues who care deeply, innovate with purpose, hold ourselves accountable and prioritize safety and quality in everything we do. Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time. Role Overview The Executive Director, Aetna Interoperability Strategy is a senior enterprise leader responsible for setting, owning, and advancing Aetna’s enterprise-wide interoperability strategy across all business lines. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Interoperability, this role serves as the strategic convener for interoperability—shaping long-term vision, guiding near-term execution, and ensuring alignment across technology, product, operations, and business leadership. This executive operates at the intersection of technology, policy, and business, translating complex regulatory, technical, and market dynamics into clear, actionable enterprise strategy for senior leadership and enterprise governance bodies. The Executive Director synthesizes multiple, often competing, roadmaps into a cohesive enterprise narrative, identifies strategic gaps and opportunities, and drives convergence, simplification, and value realization across Aetna’s interoperability portfolio. As a visible enterprise leader and external ambassador, the Executive Director represents Aetna’s interoperability strategy internally across the CVS Health enterprise and externally with providers, vendors, regulators, and industry organizations. This role balances long-term (3–5+ year) enterprise vision with pragmatic, incremental execution that delivers measurable business, clinical, and regulatory outcomes.

  • Advise enterprise leadership on the intersection of interoperability standards, policy, technology, and business strategy.
  • Represent Aetna’s interoperability strategy across the CVS Health enterprise and externally with providers, vendors, and industry bodies.
  • Guide long-term planning while ensuring near-term regulatory and operational commitments are met.
  • Working with peers and partners across the organization, influence capital allocation, investment prioritization, and portfolio optimization related to interoperability initiatives.
  • Champion executive-level storytelling, translating complex strategies into clear, decision-oriented narratives.
  • Support and lead governance processes to ensure strategy is executed, measured, and value is realized.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 12–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in U.S. healthcare technology or interoperability.
  • Demonstrated executive accountability for enterprise-scale strategy and transformation.

  • Proven ability to lead through influence in large, matrixed organizations.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including portfolio and investment decision-making.
  • Deep understanding of payer and provider workflows and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to balance long-term vision with pragmatic execution.
