Position Overview

Reporting to the Selfless Love Foundation (SLF) Adoption Manager, the Post Adoption Connector will provide post adoptive families with concierge level services and supports, creating an optimal environment to sustain healthy family connections after adoption finalization. This position is primarily responsible for supporting & advocating for families, acting as a liaison with partner agencies, connecting families with post adoption resources, and collecting data and tracking outcomes. This position will be an expert on post adoption services in Florida.  This is a remote position for a Florida based resident.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field
  • Must have 2 years of child welfare/adoption experience. Over one year of post adoption experience or lived expertise is preferred
  • Knowledge of policies and practices related to adoptions. Certificate of completion of ---Adoption Competency Training is preferred
  • Preferred TBRI Practitioner certification
  • Preferred experience running a support group
  • Must able to successfully pass and maintain a Level II background check
  • Telework position requiring up to 20% travel and night/weekend availability for visits, meetings, and events
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must reside in Florida
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom. Open and comfortable with learning new applications and technology

Responsibilities

Supporting Families

  • Support and advocate for SLF post adoptive families through individualized guidance and follow up.
  • Create a safe, trusting environment for families through honest and positive interactions.
  • Maintain regular communication with families, including one on one calls, ongoing check ins, and the monthly post adoption newsletter.
  • Facilitate monthly virtual support sessions via Zoom (typically held after 5 PM), offering discussion topics and peer connection opportunities.
  • Ensure families are comfortable navigating adoption portal.
  • Add engaging, relevant content to the family portal, including articles, resources, and event highlights.
  • Partner with the SLF marketing team to send care packages and celebrate family milestones, including anniversaries of adoption finalizations.
  • Coordinate family engagement events such as photoshoots, post adoption celebrations, and other community gatherings — including event attendance, logistics, and collaboration with vendors and partner agencies.

Connecting Families with Post Adoption Resources

  • Identify and connect families to post adoption supports based on assessed needs
  • Assist families with navigation of local and statewide post adoption resources, including mental health, educational, and respite supports
  • Update internal list of post adoption contacts and resources

Partnering with Agencies

  • Maintain regular communication with agency partners to identify post adoption service needs
  • Streamline support processes and develop plans to overcome barriers
  • Assist with local National Adoption Day event coordination
  • Attend conferences to build partnerships and networking with agencies across the state

Data Collection & Outcome Tracking

  • Post Adoption Connector's goal is to actively support families after adoption
  • Track program data and outcomes
  • Track and respond to any referrals of families in need of support

Other Duties As Assigned

  • Continue to learn and lead in adoptions
  • Potential to attend post adoption statewide calls to stay up to date with adoption and post adoption information
  • Responsibilities may change based on the needs of the organization.
  • The position must be flexible and willing to take on other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
