Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center Customer Operations Engineer Intern, you'll be responsible for:

Installations (Server/Network/Cross Connect Cable)

+ Racks and stacks customer equipment + Installs intra-cage fiber tray, ladder rack, customer equipment, and cabinets + Infrastructure installs to include whalebone cable management, public fiber tray systems, carrier ladder rack, AC/DC power trays, security trays, and cash mesh + Installs and tests advanced cross-connect circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.) + Installs and tests Equinix Link cross-connects (T1, DS3, OC3-48, Eth, GigE, 10Gig)

Testing/Troubleshooting

+ Supports semi-routine standard operating testing and standard operating installations of customer assets + Supports standard operating procedures of layer 1 cross-connect certification testing

Customer Management

+ Supports customer satisfaction with timely adherence to semi-routine execution order requirements + Delivers a high level of service and an excellent customer experience when interfacing with customers + Provides support with time expectations on new deployments and existing alterations, by following standard operating procedure guidelines + Supports customers on-site by through access control and escorting services

Training

+ Completes all assigned training on Documentation/Reporting in a timely manner

Essential Qualifications

* Currently pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology)

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a data center environment

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with data center operations, network infrastructure, or customer support

  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools and technologies (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP)
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and security systems
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software

* Strong technical skills, with a focus on data center operations and customer support

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork
