Job description: Responsible for directly tutoring nursing students by asking and answering questions and demonstrating examples relating to the subject.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Tutor all nursing students in nursing and applicable health science topics, including college-level academic transfer courses.
- Ask and answer nursing and health science subject related questions, using examples relating to the particular subject.
- Provide analytic and diagnostic services for students increasing effective work results.
- Process new students to ensure the individuals? learning needs are met.
- Provide support services required during semester.
- Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials.
- May assist in tracking student performance via session logs.
- May present at various events to increase awareness of tutoring services.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be well organized, task-oriented and flexible.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a large multicultural environment.
- Must be able to teach day or evening hour classes at a number of sites around the city, primarily in the Medical Center.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment
- Self-disciplined and able to effectively follow department protocols.
- Must be able to work flexible hours based on support needs.
