Job title: Title I Paraprofessional Company: Kalamazoo Resa Job description: PURPOSE: The Title I Paraprofessional will perform duties under the supervision of the Title I coordinator/certified classroom teacher. The role of the Title I Paraprofessional is to assist in the remedial education of elementary students in the areas of reading and mathematics. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or
• Obtain an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution; or
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas:

• Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
• Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring.
• Provide consistent behavior and engagement monitoring for small group instruction.
• Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a teacher.
