Junior Piping/Mechanical Designer
BBA Consultants is one of Canada’s leading private consulting engineering firms, and they are seeking a Junior Piping/Mechanical Designer to join their Mechanical and Piping Engineering team. The role involves assisting with studies for major projects in the mining, energy, and heavy industry sectors, including 3D design of piping and equipment layouts, and producing detailed drawings.
Responsibilities
- Participate in preparing plans and specifications based on guidelines
- Under supervision, carry out the 3D design of piping, equipment and mechanical layouts for all components
- Work with point clouds (3D scanning)
- Coordinate equipment layout with other disciplines, such as the Structural Engineering
- Produce isometric drawings of pipelines
- Produce 2D drawings of equipment developed in design and general layouts
- Prepare 2D drawings with full detailing (dimensions, labels, text and notes)
- Participate in technical site surveys
- Ensure the quality of deliverables produced
Skills
- College diploma in mechanical engineering technology
- From 0 to 2 years of experience as a mechanical technician
- Available for short-term work assignments outside the office
- Valid driver's license
- Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
- Experience in the mining or oil & gas sectors
