Job description: Primary Purpose: Work with campuses to increase parent and family engagement activities and participation to positively impact student academic and social development, and to comply with federal program legal requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university; college coursework in education/youth issues preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred, but not required
- Exceptional organizational, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative in project and task management and work with established deadlines
- Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative and effective working relationships
- Experience working in an educational, social service, or family support service setting
- Experience with child development and effective parenting techniques
- Experience working with families that have diverse cultures and economic backgrounds
- Three years working in public education, or with families in a social services setting.
- Assist campuses in developing and implementing Parent and Family Engagement policies and programs, and tracking parent and family participation.
- Monitor and assess campus Parent and Family Engagement programs and ensure appropriate legally mandated documentation for Title I, II, and III is developed and maintained.
- Provide training to campuses and at district events on the importance of parent and family engagement as it relates to student achievement.
- Foster relationships/partnerships with outside community and educational organizations focused on family engagement.
- Contact parents for outreach and parent communication support as needed.
- Keep informed of federal laws and regulations related to parent and family engagement requirements.
- Be knowledgeable about district and state programs that relate to student wellness and academic achievement.
- Maintain confidentiality of information related to students, parents, families, district and campus faculty and staff.
- Be committed to implementing program requirements with integrity.
- Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events, including evening and weekend events as needed.
- Punctuality in all areas.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Be a positive role model for all students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
