StartSteps is a Berlin-based education company that helps people transition into stable, well-paid tech careers. We design and run full-time, instructor-led online programs that focus on practical skills employers actually hire for, including enterprise platforms like SAP, ServiceNow, AWS and Databricks roles.

We work with job seekers, employers and the German employment system. Our students join our courses using a Bildungsgutschein, so they can train without paying upfront. We combine training with career support and employer connections, so graduates don’t just earn certificates, they get hired.

We are looking for a passionate Student Admissions Consultant to join StartSteps. This is a full-time role and can be done remotely.

In this role, you will speak with prospective students to understand their background and eligibility, then guide them to the right course for their goals. This is a consultative sales role, requiring clear communication and strong follow-through to support candidates through the full admissions process, including securing a Bildungsgutschein from the employment agency.

The role requires advanced English (C1+) and German (C1+).

Tasks

Responsibilities of this Role

  • Guide prospective students through admissions and enrollment, helping them become course participants in a friendly and welcoming way
  • Provide reliable, fast and high-quality support that helps fill cohorts
  • Maintain admissions paperwork with a very high level of accuracy
  • Run initiatives to improve the experience of potential students, using customer experience and success metrics
  • Respond to enquiries across channels including phone, video calls, WhatsApp and emailBuild strong relationships with the Agentur für Arbeit and Jobcenter and continuously improve StartSteps’ internal knowledge of their processes

Requirements

The right candidate for this role…

  • Is fluent in German and English (C1+ in both)
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills and can match the style, tone and voice of StartSteps
  • Enjoys talking to people, brings empathy and knows how to get candidates excited about new opportunities
  • Is comfortable picking up the phone and calling people; sales experience is a strong plus
  • Has proven attention to detail, able to follow processes accurately, especially in data entry and documentation
  • Works well in a team and is ready to jump in. Proactively flags issues early and communicates with the team
  • Has experience using a CRM (Pipedrive is a big plus)
  • Is comfortable trying out and using new technical tools
  • Is strong at building and maintaining relationships with public institutions
  • Is comfortable representing StartSteps at information events
  • Can work across stakeholders and teams to complete daily operational tasks
