As the next pavement strategy specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating the development of strategies to improve pavement condition for inclusion in the annual Highway Call for Projects.
  • Leading the statewide pavement working group in providing solutions to complex issues.
  • Developing pavement condition forecasts using pavement management software.
  • Providing management with recommendations to address complex strategic and policy decisions related to future pavement condition and investment.

Begin your journey with MDOT today! The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Transportation Planning Specialist 14 position. For additional information regarding this position, refer to the position description. The official work location for this position is Lansing, but other alternate work locations may be considered. This position may work a hybrid (remote/office) schedule and is currently working 2 days in the office per month, however this is subject to change at any time. Selected candidates who have been approved to work a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview. Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: planning (city, community, environmental, regional, and/or urban), environmental studies and/or sustainability, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, geographic/geospatial information systems, logistics and/or supply chain management, or economics. Experience Five years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Planner, including three years equivalent to a Transportation Planner P11, two years equivalent to a Transportation Planner 12, or one year equivalent to a Transportation Planning Specialist 13.
