EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Three years work-related experience preferred
- Experience dealing with stressful situations and students with challenging behavior
- Bachelor Degree in education, psychology, human services or another related field
- BCBA - Board Certified Behavior Analyst - Preferred
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training - Current or can complete within first 90 days
- Bilingual Spanish - Preferred
- Reliable transportation for off-site meetings and/or requirements
- Any other combination of related education, experience, and training
- Monitor disciplinary concerns which are most appropriately dealt with in the school setting through a series of positive behavior support and restorative justice strategies or alternatives to suspension.
- Support students in teaching appropriate techniques and strategies to manage behavior in positive ways.
- Support students both during and beyond the school day and duties may include but will not be limited to attendance at truancy court, home visits, extended learning opportunities, and co-curricular events.
- Support teachers in appropriate teaching techniques within the classroom setting that better enables students with behavior challenges to succeed in the classroom.
- Provide professional development to certified and appropriate school-based classified staff that supports students with behavior needs
- Provide the support needed for our students to access all educational opportunities available.
- Collaborating with staff to develop and ensure implementation of behavior plans
- Help develop tracking systems (data collection) to affect positive behavioral change in students; providing supportive intervention to students, staff and families
- Assist in developing Behavior Intervention and Positive Support (BPIS) interventions and helping with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) for the purpose of providing a safe effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors
- Help conduct trainings on classroom management techniques, positive behavioral supports for the purpose of developing skills
- Knowledge of Colorado and district content standards.
- Knowledge and skills sufficient to perform all duties of the position.
- Prefers leadership situations relating to meeting the social, emotional, psychological and academic needs of students.
- Prefers a work environment where flexibility, ability to deal with conflict, a high tolerance for stress, an ability to quickly internalize information and make informed decisions, and long hours are a part of the assignment.
