Data Engineer (Mid-Level)

Salary Range: $100K – $135K

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Engineer who can contribute to data pipeline development end-to-end—combining strong Python fundamentals with cloud and data infrastructure experience.

What You’ll Do

Build & Own Data Pipelines

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery
  • Write clean, efficient Python code using Pandas and PySpark for data processing
  • Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost

Data Onboarding & Integration

  • Automate data onboarding workflows to increase speed and consistency
  • Integrate client data with public and private data sources
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues across the pipeline lifecycle

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Utilize AWS resources to manage data infrastructure
  • Support and improve pipeline orchestration and job execution
  • Contribute to system reliability, monitoring, and security best practices

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Partner with engineering, data science, and product teams to deliver data solutions
  • Own projects from concept through production
  • Communicate clearly on progress, tradeoffs, and outcomes

What You Bring

Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in Pandas and/or PySpark
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
  • Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines
  • Strong attention to data quality and validation practices
  • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred

  • Experience building machine learning data pipelines
  • Familiarity with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
  • Familiarity with Parquet / PyArrow and data lake patterns

What Sets You Apart

  • You can own a problem end-to-end, not just execute tasks
  • You think in terms of scalability and automation, not one-off solutions
  • You proactively identify issues in data and systems
  • You balance speed with reliability in production environments
  • You’re comfortable operating in a fast-paced, startup environment

Why Join Us

  • Work on a platform that directly impacts how major utilities and financial institutions understand and serve their customers.
  • Own critical infrastructure end-to-end, from data ingestion to platform delivery.
  • Collaborate with data scientists on ML-powered customer intelligence products.
  • Influence architecture decisions on a growing, production-scale data platform.
  • Mentor and grow junior data engineers.

Benefits

  • Base Salary + Equity (Ownership in BlastPoint)
  • Home Office: $500 stipend
  • Health: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Time Off: 3 weeks paid vacation, 10 paid holidays, unlimited sick time
  • Retirement: 401(k)
