Job description: The Department of Theatre and Dance at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor in Theatre Arts to begin in the Fall Semester, 2023.
The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance is a co-governed department granting separate undergraduate BA degrees in Theatre Arts and Dance. Theatre Arts and Dance share performance facilities and production faculty and staff (Technical Director, Costume Shop Manager, and Master Electrician). Design and implementation of curricular and co-curricular goals reside, for the most part, within the individual Programs. The Department is strongly committed to the Mission of the University and has a special concern for issues of social justice and the dialogue between faith, culture, and the arts.
The Department serves a diverse population of students. The Theatre Arts Program serves over 260 majors, as well as Theatre Arts minors, and the general student population. Students and faculty come from increasingly diverse backgrounds: ethnic, socio-economic, sexual orientation, and age, among others. Required qualifications include:
- MFA in Production Management or Stage Management
- Three years teaching experience at the university/college level.
- Four years of experience as a Production Manager in the Profession.
Desired qualifications include:
- Experience working and mentoring undergraduate students as assistants or in production related scenarios,
- Experience advising students through the undergraduate curriculum and major.
- Experience as a Production Manager at an undergraduate institution.
- Experience in Theatrical design (Projection, Sound, Lighting, Scenic, or Costume)
- Proficient in the use of latest design software like, CAD, Vectorworks, Sound, and Lighting software.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ability to quickly adapt LMS, course management, and student management platforms.
- Experience interfacing with all areas of production to manage a project.
- Ability to generate content and manage social media platforms for the department.
- Serving as the department?s Production Manager (equivalent to two (2) class assignments),
- Advising up to 90 majors (equivalent to one (1) class assignment),
- Teaching one (1) class per semester or Stage Managing a mainstage production.
