Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Category Buyer / Operational Procurement Assistant to join our Procurement team. In this role, you will support both strategic and operational procurement activities, ensuring timely sourcing of materials, equipment, tools, and services necessary for the company’s projects and ongoing operations. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure the best conditions in terms of cost, quality, and delivery, while promoting compliance and continuous improvement across procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse purchase requests for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring all necessary information is available for market consultation.
  • Raise and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP or other ERP systems, ensuring compliance with company policies and delivery schedules.
  • Obtain and monitor supplier confirmations on delivery times and quantities, proactively addressing potential delays or issues.
  • Support supplier negotiation processes in technical, financial, and delivery aspects.
  • Assist with supplier onboarding, compliance checks, and documentation management.
  • Liaise with suppliers (including international vendors) to obtain quotations, lead times, and shipping documentation.
  • Coordinate import/export activities, including customs documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, commodity codes, Incoterms) and customs clearance processes with freight forwarders and brokers.
  • Ensure compliance with local import/export regulations.
  • Promote continuous improvement by evaluating processes, identifying inefficiencies, and suggesting solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies regarding quality, environment, safety, and legal/regulatory obligations.
  • Foster effective communication with internal teams to ensure procurement and logistics requirements are met.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and other strategic projects as required.
  • Support the preparation of management reports, performance indicators, and other procurement-related analyses for decision-making
  • Contact suppliers to obtain confirmations for delivery dates and quantities ordered, to anticipate issues of delivery of materials or services, combining project priorities with vendor confirmations.
  • Support and assist in the supplier negotiation processes in the technical, financial and delivery aspects.
  • Promote articulation and communication with the various areas of the company, to guarantee compliance with the principles, procedures and rules to be followed in the purchasing processes.

Professional Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles, preferably with negotiation exposure.
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP MM module preferred).
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and documentation is an advantage.

 

Education

  • Currently studying towards a CIPS qualification (Level 2–4) or committed to professional development in procurement.

 

Technical Skills

  • Procurement and negotiation techniques.
  • ERP systems (SAP or similar).
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
