What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying sophisticated analytical models that solve complex business problems. Your work will directly influence strategic decisions and help shape the future of our retail and healthcare offerings. Here's what you can expect:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop cutting-edge machine learning models and analytical tools using your deep expertise in statistical modeling, probability theory, decision science, and advanced quantitative methods. Continuously innovate by adopting new modeling techniques and refining existing processes to stay at the forefront of data science.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the business context behind large, complex datasets and translate data insights into meaningful, actionable solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Apply rigorous analytical methodologies and statistical techniques to analyze massive volumes of data. Utilize advanced statistical approaches including predictive modeling, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design and analysis, and data mining to uncover trends and patterns.
  • Design and build recommendation engines and optimization algorithms. Perform complex data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing to support diverse business use cases.
  • Program professionally using our tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, and PyTorch to build robust, scalable solutions.
  • Implement machine learning techniques and both supervised and unsupervised algorithms to construct predictive models and prescriptive analytics solutions that address key business challenges.
  • Build and deploy algorithms including decision trees, regression models, XGBoost, K-means clustering, and anomaly detection systems. Apply interpretable machine learning and Bayesian theory to ensure model transparency and accuracy.
  • Leverage cloud computing capabilities on Azure and Databricks platforms, and perform complex querying in Snowflake environments.
  • Utilize industry-standard software tools and methodologies including GitHub for version control, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and agile development methodologies.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams including finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide expert analytical support.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to business clients and management teams with varying levels of technical expertise. Educate stakeholders about our systems and translate analytical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.

What We're Looking For

We seek a candidate who combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in dynamic environments, managing ambiguity, and delivering results under pressure.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of four years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative analysis, or computational fields; OR High School diploma/GED with a minimum of seven years of experience in these areas.
  • Advanced Degree: M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Technical Experience: At least four years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create and optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
  • Programming Proficiency: Advanced experience in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages commonly used in data science.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, pattern detection, distribution analysis, data visualization, and extracting actionable insights to inform business decisions.
  • Machine Learning Expertise: Experience using decision trees and building classifiers, along with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines) and unsupervised learning techniques (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal component analysis).
  • Cloud & Distributed Computing: Experience with cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
  • Experimental Design: Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments to measure impact and inform product decisions.
  • Communication: Advanced ability to convey rigorous technical standards and complex issues to non-technical audiences. Experience effectively communicating technical solutions to data scientists, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Business Acumen: At least two years of experience contributing to financial decisions within an organizational context.
  • Leadership: At least two years of direct leadership, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team management experience.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to at least 10% of the time for business purposes (domestic and international).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience working with IoT (Internet of Things) and Edge AI technologies.
  • Experience in Reinforcement Learning methodologies.
  • Domain expertise in the healthcare industry.
