Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

Overview

This is a pro-bono volunteer position. JerseySTEM is seeking a Lab Sciences Team Member/Curriculum Designer to play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing our STEM education offerings for underrepresented middle school girls. As the Lab Sciences Team Member/Curriculum Designer, you will be creating engaging and hands-on lab sciences curriculum to inspire and educate young minds.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to design innovative lab-based activities.
  • Develop comprehensive curriculum modules that align with JerseySTEM's mission and educational goals.
  • Ensure that the lab sciences curriculum is age-appropriate and aligned with educational standards.
  • Integrate interactive and inquiry-based learning techniques into curriculum materials.
  • Review and improve existing lab sciences curriculum content for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and support to curriculum team members, offering mentorship and training.
  • Collaborate with other curriculum teams to ensure interdisciplinary connections within programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Strong passion for STEM education and lab sciences.
  • Experience in curriculum design and development, particularly in lab sciences subjects.
  • Knowledge of educational standards and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Creativity in developing hands-on and engaging lab activities.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to guide a team of curriculum developers.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for curriculum development.
  • Commitment to promoting gender equity in STEM education.

Time Commitment

  • 3-6 Hours weekly
  • 6 months minimum
