Adjunct Instructor for Mathematics for Teaching and Learning II

Job Description: Russell Sage College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach MAT 121: Mathematics for Teaching and Learning II during the Spring 2026 semester. This course builds on foundational concepts introduced in MAT 111 and deepens understanding of mathematical ideas essential for effective teaching. The course aligns with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, covering Expressions & Equations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement & Data, and Statistics & Probability. Enrollment is limited to Childhood and Middle Childhood Education majors, with an emphasis on developing strong conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and the ability to design meaningful, student-centered mathematics learning environments. Adjunct compensation is currently $1000 per credit hour (depending on staffing needs and enrollment). Requirements: A master's degree or higher in mathematics, mathematics education, education, or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching mathematics to pre-service teachers or at the elementary, middle childhood, or secondary level. Familiarity with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and evidence-based, student-centered mathematics instruction is strongly preferred. Experience teaching undergraduate courses and supporting diverse learners in inclusive learning environments is desirable.
