Senior Information Security Analyst - SOC Operations

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Information Security Analyst to lead their Security Operations Center (SOC) team in Indianapolis, Indiana, US . This role is critical in defending the organization's assets against cyber threats, monitoring security alerts, investigating incidents, and implementing proactive security measures. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in security operations, incident response, threat hunting, and a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and technologies. Responsibilities: Lead and manage daily SOC operations, including monitoring, detection, analysis, and response to security incidents. Develop, tune, and maintain security monitoring tools and systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, etc.). Conduct in-depth investigations of security alerts and potential breaches, performing forensic analysis as needed. Develop and execute threat hunting methodologies to proactively identify and mitigate emerging threats. Create and update incident response playbooks and procedures to ensure efficient and effective handling of security events. Collaborate with IT and other business units to implement security controls and remediate vulnerabilities. Analyze security logs and network traffic to identify suspicious activities and indicators of compromise (IOCs). Stay current with the latest threat intelligence, attack vectors, and cybersecurity best practices. Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, findings, and recommendations for management. Mentor and guide junior SOC analysts, providing technical expertise and support. Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC processes, tools, and capabilities. Participate in tabletop exercises and simulations to test incident response readiness. Ensure compliance with relevant security policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain documentation for security systems, procedures, and incident response plans. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree or equivalent experience is a plus. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 4 years in a SOC or incident response role. Proven expertise in security monitoring, incident analysis, and forensic investigation techniques. Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack vectors. Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm), IDS/IPS, EDR solutions, and threat intelligence platforms. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis. Knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly. Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, CEH) are highly desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a high-pressure environment. Willingness to work occasional on-call rotations and non-standard hours as needed. This is a key role for protecting the organization's digital assets.
