Temporary HR Generalist (Short-term Assignment) with HR Consulting Firm

A leading HR consulting firm in Washington, D.C., is seeking a temporary HR Generalist to support a short-term assignment. In this role, you will assist with heavy inbox management, respond to incoming requests regarding leave management, onboarding and offboarding, employee relations, training and development, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate is a strong independent worker, effective in communicating HR-related information, and able to jump right into helping a busy team! Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries related to benefits, company policies, and general HR matters with high-profile clients.
  • Communicate effectively, quickly, and concisely across high volume inboxes using strong professionalism.
  • Facilitate a seamless and welcoming onboarding and offboarding experience for employees.
  • Upload new hire forms and manage files within the talent acquisition system.
  • Edit and update employee records, including salary adjustments, address and name changes, and other relevant updates.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Serve as a key liaison between internal and external contacts to support efficient HR business practices.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experienced. You bring at least two to three years of HR Generalist experience, with a focus on leave management, and compliance oversight across domestic multi-state support.
  • Speed and accuracy. You understand the importance of quick responsiveness, concise communication, and managing high volume incoming requests.
  • Reliable and self-sufficient. You thrive in a remote setting and can manage daily HR tasks, multiple client needs, and ad hoc requests with confidence.
  • Tech-savvy. You are comfortable working with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, and remote collaboration tools to streamline HR processes.
  • Strong problem-solver. You proactively identify HR issues, think critically, and implement effective solutions that align with company policies and best practices.

The salary listed reflects the anticipated compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, location, business considerations, and internal equity.
