Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Administration Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift and/or Kubernetes clusters across development, test, and production environments. Manage cluster lifecycle activities including installation, upgrades, patching, scaling, backup, restore, and decommissioning. Administer platform components such as ingress, networking, storage, image registries, operators, namespaces, quotas, and policies. Ensure platform availability, performance, security, and operational stability. Container Platform Operations Support and troubleshoot production issues related to OpenShift, Kubernetes, containers, nodes, pods, networking, storage, and service mesh. Monitor cluster health, resource consumption, and workload behavior, and take proactive action to prevent outages or degradation. Perform root cause analysis for incidents and drive long-term fixes. Work closely with SRE, infrastructure, and support teams to maintain SLAs and operational readiness. Automation & DevOps Enablement Build and maintain automation for cluster provisioning, configuration, and platform operations using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Helm, GitOps, and scripting. Support CI/CD integration for containerized application deployment and promotion across environments. Enable development teams with reusable patterns, templates, and guardrails for application deployment on OpenShift/Kubernetes. Improve operational efficiency through automation and standardization. Security & Compliance Implement and manage role-based access control, secrets management, certificate handling, policy enforcement, and platform hardening. Ensure container platform aligns with enterprise security, compliance, and governance requirements. Partner with security teams on image scanning, vulnerability remediation, network segmentation, and runtime security controls. Support audit readiness and compliance reporting where required. Collaboration & Engineering Support Partner with application teams to onboard workloads to OpenShift/Kubernetes. Guide teams on container best practices, deployment troubleshooting, scaling, observability, and operational readiness. Work with network, storage, cloud, and security teams to resolve cross-platform issues. Create and maintain platform documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and technical standards. Required Experience 8+ years of IT experience, with strong recent experience in OpenShift and/or Kubernetes engineering. Hands-on experience with enterprise OpenShift platform administration. Strong understanding of container orchestration, Kubernetes architecture, and production cluster operations. Experience with: Red Hat OpenShift Kubernetes Docker / container runtime concepts Helm Ansible and/or Terraform CI/CD pipelines Linux systems administration Experience troubleshooting: pod failures node issues ingress and routing DNS/service discovery storage mounts and PVCs certificate and authentication issues cluster performance and resource bottlenecks Strong understanding of platform security including RBAC, secrets, certificates, network policies, and image controls. Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or similar. Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, or similar. Ability to work independently in production environments and handle high-priority incidents. Preferred Experience Experience with OpenShift on cloud or hybrid environments such as AWS, Azure, or on-prem VMware/bare metal. Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux. Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or OpenShift Service Mesh. Experience with operators, custom resource definitions, and Kubernetes extensibility. Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and container security tooling. Red Hat certifications such as: Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration Red Hat Certified Engineer Experience supporting regulated or large enterprise environments.
