Software Developer - Ruby on Rails
High Tech Genesis is a design services company that leads the world in technology and innovation. They are seeking a Ruby on Rails Developer to support a federal government project in Ottawa, focusing on building secure, cloud-based applications within an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Ruby on Rails applications
- Work within an Agile team using short iterations, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps workflows
- Build and support cloud-based and web-based software solutions
- Collaborate with developers, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge transfer
Skills
- Minimum 1 year (within the last 3 years) in: Agile software development, CI/CD and modern DevOps practices, Custom software development in iterative environments
- Minimum 1 year (within the last 5 years) in all of the following: Cloud-based software development, Web application development, Strong proficiency with Ruby on Rails development
- Experience with REST APIs and web services
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or GC Cloud)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is an asset
- Understanding of secure coding and government security standards
- This role requires an active Secret Clearance
