[Remote] Safety Engineer I and II - Structured Cabling
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mortenson is currently seeking a passionate Safety Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling who can interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. The Safety Engineer will work to implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site.
Responsibilities
- Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training
- Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
- Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis
- Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings
- Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
- Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Skills
- Must have either a 2 or 4 yr degree in health or safety OR meet all 3 of the following: 1. HS Diploma 2. OSHA30 AND 3. STS or CHST by the BCSP (NCCER, CHSO, SSHO certs do not meet certification requirement)
- Current driver's license
- Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs
- Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
- Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills
- Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback, ability to travel up to 100%
- One year of related experience for Safety Engineer II
- Data center or MEP experience preferred, but not required
- Bachelor's or associate degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred
- Previous related internship experience a plus
