We're seeking a Senior Data Scientist who can harness advanced machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to solve complex business challenges and drive innovation across our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Model Development: Build sophisticated models and algorithms using technical expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. Continually innovate by adapting to new modeling techniques and processes.
  • Business Context Integration: Develop deep understanding of the business reality behind massive datasets and create meaningful analytic solutions that address real-world challenges in healthcare and retail.
  • Statistical Analysis & Data Mining: Apply analytical rigor and statistical techniques to analyze large volumes of data using advanced statistical methods including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design and analysis, and data mining. Develop recommendations and optimization algorithmic designs, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing.
  • Technical Implementation: Utilize a comprehensive tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other advanced programming tools to implement and deploy analytical solutions.
  • Machine Learning Applications: Apply machine learning techniques, including both supervised and unsupervised algorithms, to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions that support diverse business use cases in healthcare retail.
  • Algorithm Development: Construct advanced algorithms such as decision trees, regression models, XGBoost, K-means clustering, and anomaly detection systems. Implement interpretable ML approaches and Bayesian theories where appropriate.
  • Cloud Computing Expertise: Leverage cloud computing platforms including Azure and Databricks, with expertise in querying and managing data in Snowflake environments.
  • Software Development Practices: Utilize software development tools and methodologies including GitHub, Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD), and agile methodologies to ensure robust, scalable solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with finance teams, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Technical Communication: Communicate complex analytical concepts verbally and in writing to business clients and management teams with varying levels of technical expertise, educating them about systems while sharing insights and recommendations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative or computational fields OR High School/GED and a minimum of 7 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Advanced Degrees: Master's degree in STEM fields, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with Complex Data: At least 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create and optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
  • Programming Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark or other relevant programming languages commonly used in data science.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Advanced-level skills in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, pattern detection, distribution analysis, result visualization, and insight extraction to support data-driven decision making.
  • Machine Learning Techniques: Experience with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning techniques (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components).
  • Cloud ML Systems: Experience with cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
  • Experimental Design: Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments to validate analytical solutions and business hypotheses.
  • Communication Skills: Advanced ability to convey rigorous technical concepts and issues to non-experts through clear, concise communication.
  • Adaptability: Experience working in dynamic environments and managing ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results under changing circumstances.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience effectively communicating technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.
  • Business Acumen: At least 2 years of experience contributing to business decisions in a corporate environment.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of direct management, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (domestic and international).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. Preferred: Doctorate in STEM fields, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related disciplines.
  • IoT & Edge AI: Experience working with Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge AI technologies is highly desirable.
  • Reinforcement Learning: Experience in Reinforcement Learning is considered a valuable plus.
  • Healthcare Domain: Previous experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred, given arenaflex's focus on healthcare retail and services.
