This is more than a job — it is an opportunity to shape how data flows, transforms, and empowers decision-making across a global enterprise, all from the comfort of your home office.

When you join arenaflex, you join a company that genuinely values its people, invests in innovation, and believes in the transformative power of data.

About the Role

As a Remote Data Engineer – Data Analytics at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in operationalizing data pipelines that power reports, dashboards, advanced analytics, and machine learning initiatives across the enterprise. You will be responsible for end-to-end pipeline design, from ingestion through transformation, validation, orchestration, and delivery, ensuring that data is accurate, reliable, and accessible to the teams that need it most.

This position requires a strong foundation in programming and SQL, combined with deep expertise in data storage, modeling, cloud platforms, data warehousing, and data lake architectures. You will collaborate closely with Data Architects, Data Scientists, and BI Engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable data models and pipelines that serve as the single source of truth for the entire organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Development & Operationalization: Design, develop, and operationalize robust data pipelines that make data readily available for consumption through BI tools, advanced analytics, and downstream services.
  • Data Ingestion & Integration: Gather and process large, complex datasets from a wide variety of internal and external sources, including SQL databases, Oracle databases, flat files (CSV, delimited formats), web APIs, and XML feeds.
  • Architecture Collaboration: Work in close partnership with Data Architects and BI Engineers to align on data architecture requirements, recommend ongoing optimizations, and design scalable, high-performance pipelines.
  • ETL/ELT Process Design: Plan, develop, and implement efficient ETL and ELT processes using tools such as Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica IICS (Informatica Cloud) to deliver high-quality, timely data products.
  • Cloud Engineering: Leverage Azure services — including Azure SQL Data Warehouse (Synapse), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Event Hub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Databricks Delta Live Tables, Spark, and Cosmos DB — to accelerate and enhance data delivery.
  • Data Modeling & Quality: Build data models in collaboration with Data Modelers, develop pipelines to populate those models, and uphold strict standards for data quality, reliability, and governance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements — including automating manual workflows, optimizing data delivery, and reducing time-to-insight for business stakeholders.
  • Big Data & NoSQL Solutions: Implement big data and NoSQL architectures to create scalable data processing platforms that drive high-value insights across the organization.
  • Data Dictionary & Taxonomy: Support the development and maintenance of comprehensive data dictionaries and data taxonomies for product lines and analytical solutions.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis Support: Lead ad-hoc data retrieval efforts to support business reporting, dashboarding, and executive decision-making.
  • Data Integrity Review: Assess the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of data from multiple sources, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Database Administration: Manage database architecture, including installation and upgrading of relevant software, while maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database activity and resource utilization, tuning performance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Peer Review & Mentorship: Conduct peer reviews of fellow Data Engineers' work, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, both in written and verbal form, across product owners, engineers, and data platform teams.
  • CI/CD Collaboration: Engage with DevOps Engineers to integrate data pipelines into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience engineering and operationalizing data pipelines with large and complex datasets.
  • Informatica PowerCenter: 3+ years of professional experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
  • Data Modeling & Warehousing: 3+ years of experience in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Informatica IICS: 3+ years of hands-on experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS).
  • Cloud Technologies: 3+ years of experience working with modern cloud platforms, including ADLS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Databricks Live Tables, Spark, Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB, and other big data technologies.
  • Diverse Data Sources: Extensive experience working with various data sources, including SQL databases, Oracle databases, flat files (CSV, delimited), web APIs, and XML formats.
  • Advanced SQL Skills: High-level proficiency in SQL, with a strong understanding of relational databases and business data; ability to write complex queries against multiple data sources.
  • Storage Concepts: Solid grasp of database storage paradigms, including data lakes, relational databases, NoSQL systems, graph databases, and data warehousing architectures.
  • Agile Environment: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile development environment, managing multiple priorities with confidence.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Willingness to accommodate business needs, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on-call emergency support on a rotational basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Azure Certifications: Current Microsoft Azure certifications (such as Azure Data Engineer Associate) are highly desirable.
  • Event-Based Integration: Experience implementing data integration patterns, such as event/message-based integration using Kafka or Azure Event Hub, alongside traditional ETL.
  • Version Control & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Git and Azure DevOps for source control, pipeline automation, and collaborative development.
  • Agile Delivery: Experience delivering data solutions through agile software development methodologies, including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  • Industry Exposure: Familiarity with the retail industry and its unique data challenges is a strong plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for diverse audiences.
