Position Overview

The Certified Pharmacy Technician – Data Entry, Patient Services & Telepharmacy Support role is a cornerstone of arenaflex’s telepharmacy operations. You will be the first point of contact for patients reaching out via phone or email, ensuring that prescription orders are entered accurately, patient profiles are created efficiently, and inquiries are resolved promptly—all while adhering to strict regulatory standards and arenaflex’s commitment to exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Respond to arenaflex customers through phone, email, and secure messaging platforms, providing courteous and knowledgeable assistance.
  • Create and maintain new patient profiles in the arenaflex pharmacy management system, ensuring all demographic and insurance information is accurate.
  • Enter prescription data with precision, verifying medication names, dosages, directions, and refill information.
  • Process prescription orders from arenaflex providers, confirming that each order complies with state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Secondary Duties

  • Collaborate with teammates to uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) and facility policies, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Assist in quality assurance initiatives, performing routine checks to identify and correct data entry errors.
  • Handle routine inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s clinical judgment, such as refill status, medication availability, and basic counseling.
  • Participate in special projects, process improvements, and training sessions as directed by the President, arenaflex; Pharmacy Manager, arenaflex; or supervising pharmacists.
  • Report to work as scheduled, consistently meeting the expected number of hours and maintaining punctuality.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified pharmacy technician program.
  • Certification: Active licensure as a pharmacy technician through a nationally recognized certification body, with ongoing continuing education to keep the license current.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a pharmacy setting—preferably as a pharmacy technician or clerk—is highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using pharmacy software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), and other data entry tools.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with HIPAA, state pharmacy statutes, and arenaflex’s internal compliance guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with telepharmacy platforms or remote prescription processing.
  • Advanced certification (e.g., Certified Pharmacy Technician – CPhT) or additional coursework in health informatics.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high call volumes while maintaining accuracy and empathy.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations related to dosage verification.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex medication information in clear, patient‑friendly language.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous data entry habits, with a proven track record of error‑free prescription processing.
  • Problem‑Solving: Logical and scientific thinking to troubleshoot discrepancies, resolve patient concerns, and support pharmacists in decision‑making.
  • Teamwork: Strong leadership potential; willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic setting, juggling multiple tasks without sacrificing quality.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and perform repetitive motions such as stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role is based in a modern office setting designed for telepharmacy operations. You will spend the majority of your day seated at a workstation, using a computer and telephone system to interact with patients and providers. The environment is fast‑moving, with frequent interruptions and a high volume of concurrent tasks. While the position does not require heavy manual labor, occasional lifting of medication boxes (up to 50 pounds) and frequent reaching for supplies are part of the routine. Visual acuity is essential; you must be able to read fine print and verify medication details accurately, with or without corrective lenses.

arenaflex offers a competitive salary package that reflects your experience, certifications, and the critical nature of the role. In addition to base pay, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits suite, including:
