Part-Time HR Operations & Payroll Specialist (20 Hours/Week)

Description: Eastport Analytics is seeking an experienced HR Operations & Payroll Specialist to support the day-to-day delivery of HR services across the employee lifecycle. Reporting to the HR Director, this role serves as a key resource for payroll administration, benefits support, onboarding, offboarding, employee support, and HR operations. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented HR professional who enjoys building efficient processes, delivering exceptional employee service, and serving as a trusted resource for payroll and benefits-related matters.

What You'll Do

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate and support payroll processing, ensuring accurate employee and payroll data
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and employee communications
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll and benefits-related records and transactions

HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Execute day-to-day HR transactions, including hires, terminations, employee changes, and HRIS updates
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity across HR systems
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll, and general HR matters
  • Prepare and process HR documentation in a timely and compliant manner

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a positive new hire experience
  • Manage background check processes and other pre-employment requirements
  • Manage offboarding activities, including documentation and system updates
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure seamless employee transitions

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Support HR compliance, reporting, and audit activities
  • Maintain organized and accurate HR records
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and operational efficiency
  • Follow established HR policies, procedures, and best practices

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in HR operations, HR administration, or shared services
  • Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems; Paylocity experience is preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information

Work Schedule & Travel Requirements

  • This is a remote, salaried part-time position averaging 20 hours per week.
  • Employees in this role are expected to maintain a regular schedule of approximately four hours per day, Monday through Friday, during Eastport's core business hours (9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET).
  • The role offers flexibility for occasional schedule adjustments; however, the position is not intended for highly variable or ad hoc work schedules. Employees should be available to support business operations and employee needs on a consistent and predictable basis.
  • Employees may maintain supplemental employment or consulting activities, provided such activities do not interfere with Eastport work responsibilities, create scheduling conflicts, present a conflict of interest, involve work for a competitor, or otherwise compromise confidentiality obligations.
  • Attendance at quarterly All Hands meetings in the Washington, DC area is required.

Compensation & Benefits The estimated part-time base salary for this position is $42,000 to $48,000 (annualized USD). This role is eligible for bonus pay.
