Position Overview – Media Systems Administrator

arenaflex is seeking a highly motivated Media Systems Administrator to join our dynamic technology team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive technical support for media and audiovisual (AV) systems across our production facilities, ensuring seamless operation of everything from conference rooms and dailies suites to mobile AV trucks and remote collaboration spaces. This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in California, with occasional evenings or weekend work to support critical production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver end‑to‑end support for all media and AV infrastructure, including projection systems, large‑format displays, video‑conferencing platforms, and sound‑DSP equipment.
  • Assist in the design, installation, and configuration of media‑centric workspaces, ensuring optimal acoustics, lighting, and connectivity.
  • Collaborate closely with media teams at both the Burbank and Vancouver locations to maintain a consistent user experience across all arenaflex sites.
  • Provide Tier‑1 and Tier‑2 technical assistance via a dedicated Service Desk, handling tickets, phone calls, and on‑site requests from studio staff.
  • Manage the setup and maintenance of workstations, presentation devices, tablets, and related peripherals for creative and production teams.
  • Support a broad suite of software applications, both internally developed and third‑party, across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Linux platforms.
  • Perform routine hardware diagnostics, component replacements (e.g., SSDs, GPUs, memory modules, fans), and system upgrades as needed.
  • Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations in a clear, searchable knowledge base.
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects with IT, security, and production engineering to continuously improve support workflows.
  • Maintain an on‑call rotation and flexible schedule to address urgent production needs, including evenings and weekends.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience supporting media and AV technology in a production or studio environment.
  • Proficiency with professional AV hardware such as high‑lumens projectors, line‑array speakers, video walls, and control systems (e.g., Q‑Sys, Crestron, AMX).
  • Strong knowledge of video‑conferencing solutions (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) and associated hardware (Cisco, Poly).
  • Solid understanding of macOS, iOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems; ability to troubleshoot across platforms.
  • Experience with remote desktop technologies (HP Anyware, Teradici, HP Remote Graphics Software).
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, JIRA) and documentation tools (Confluence, SharePoint).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex hardware and software issues quickly.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer‑service orientation; ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical users.
  • Physical ability to lift and install heavy equipment, and to work in varied studio environments.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience designing and building intricate AV installations, including cable routing, rack mounting, and signal flow planning.
  • Programming expertise with control systems (Q‑Sys, Creton, AMX) to automate room configurations and media workflows.
  • Knowledge of secure streaming platforms such as Sohonet or Evercast for high‑bandwidth remote collaboration.
  • Industry‑standard certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent) demonstrating hardware proficiency.
  • Active involvement in Linux communities or system administration projects.
  • Background in CGI, VFX, or game‑development pipelines, providing insight into media‑centric production workflows.
  • Passion for scripting or automation (Python, Bash) to streamline repetitive support tasks.

Education & Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience in media technology support will also be considered.

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks

  • Competitive salary range of $70,000 – $80,000 per year, based on experience, location, and skill set.
  • Performance‑based bonuses and long‑term incentive programs aligned with studio success.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, with flexible spending accounts.
  • Generous paid time off, parental leave, and holiday schedules.
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching contributions.
  • Professional development stipend for certifications, conferences, and continuing education.
  • Access to state‑of‑the‑art production facilities, creative labs, and on‑site fitness centers.
  • Employee assistance programs, wellness initiatives, and community outreach opportunities.
